Wal-Mart fail
I was on Facebook and I saw a press release from Phil Keaggy. He's my favorite musician.
His new Christmas album is being distributed in Wal-Mart. I hadn't heard of this, so I went to see if it is available at our local super center.
I'm confused. It is either "Not Sold in Stores" or it is "Also In Many Stores".
Hmmm...
Might have to swing by the retailer and take a look-see.

Sixty-nine years ago and a good man
Plattsburgh Daily Press - December 8, 1941 |
When I was younger, there was a man who attended our church that was on the islands that day. Kermit Barror. I did some looking at other newspapers from that time and found this notice...

The Barrors were friends of the family. I remember visiting their house. Their daughter, Karla, was a very talented musician.

Kermit died in the spring of 1994.

Letters to Santa Claus - 1901
I was looking through some old newspapers the other evening and came across some Letters to Santa Claus in various papers from Clinton county, courtesy of the Northern New York Library Network.
I'll be on the look out for some more of these and I'll try to include an ad from that Christmas season.
This set of letters is from a December 23, 1901 edition of the Plattsburgh Daily Press.

Tecnically Still November
But it doesn't mean that I can't start rolling out Christmas related posts. Here's a little Rudolph for you.
The video is clear, just the image above is blurry. Trust me.

All this for a buck? Really?
Here's another menu from the Royal Savage Inn.
This was a great restaurant. I remember going to it a few times when I was younger. It is no longer in business. And I just read that the Keith's daughter, Tarley Jill Keith passed away a few weeks ago.
The restaurant was named after the American schooner of 1776.
