Several years back I wrote a post about the Champlain School being burned.

Pictures are worth a thousand words, but sometimes the words themselves are worth something as well.  I used the resources of the Northern New York Library Network and found these articles.  The Plattsburgh Daily Republican article is longer, but illegible.  I only showed what could be easily be deciphered.

Rev. Francis B. Hall

The United States Congress has designated March 25th of each year as National Medal of Honor Day, a day dedicated to Medal of Honor recipients. I'd like to share a bit of the Rev. Francis B. Hall's story through his obituary.

The Plattsburgh Sentinel - October 9, 1903

The sermon continues for several more columns.  Rev. Hall was laid to rest at Riverside Cemetery in Plattsburgh.

Diavolo

While doing some baseball research I came across this ad for Diavolo as part of a larger ad for the Seventh Annual Spring Festival in Chattanooga, Tennessee.

When I was younger, there was a man who attended our church that was on the islands that day.  Kermit Barror.  I did some looking at other newspapers from that time and found this notice...

The Barrors were friends of the family.  I remember visiting their house.  Their daughter, Karla, was a very talented musician.

Kermit died in the spring of 1994.

Our family moved from the North Country in 1978.  I didn't realize the importance of what he did in the Army Air Corps.  I didn't ask him what he was doing that day, exactly where he was, how he felt about things.  I didn't take the time to thank him for his service.  Thank you, Mr. Barror.
